The project plans to implement the following work elements described in OSW Technical Memorandum 98.05: 1. Provide the capability for projects and programs to submit quality-control samples to sediment laboratories disguised as environmental samples. 2. Manage two interlaboratory comparison studies that include suspended-sediment, sand/fine splits, and particle-size quality-control samples. 3 Implement a follow-up program for laboratory results that are deemed to be bias or highly variable. 4. Write a WRIR based on the FY99 data from the sediment laboratories. 5. Attempt to involve several non-USGS sediment laboratories in the intercomparisons. These laboratories will be asked to support the project. 6. Disseminate data projects through a Web Page.
