LOGISTICS Although there are flights to Columbia, Missouri, the rates are high; you may prefer to fly into St. Louis or Kansas City. Shuttle service is available from the airports to the hotel in Columbia. Call Tiger Air Express/Travel Tiger Ways at (573) 443-3544 for details. The cost is $40 one way from the St. Louis airport and $42.50 from the Kansas City airport. Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance to guarantee a seat. TO ENVIRONMENTAL AND CONTAMINANTS RESEARCH CENTER (ECRC) From Lambert St. Louis International Airport: Starting at the airport, take Interstate 70 heading West for approximately 110 miles. Turn South (left) on US Highway 63 and proceed for approximately 3 miles to the Highway AC exit. Turn East (left) and proceed approximately 1 mile to the ECRC at 4200 New Haven Road, phone (573) 875-5399. Look for "Conference Building" sign. From the Kansas City International Airport: Starting at the airport, take Interstate 435 South to Interstate 70 East. Follow I-70 East for approximately 120 miles to US Highway 63 South (right). Follow US Highway 63 South for approximately 3 miles to the Highway AC exit. Turn East (left) and proceed approximately 1 mile to the ECRC at 4200 New Haven Road, phone (573) 875-5399. Look for "Conference Building" sign. TO RAMADA CONVENTION CENTER, 1100 Vandiver Drive, phone (573) 449-0051 Take I-70 West from St. Louis or I-70 East from Kansas City, as above. After entering Columbia from I-70, turn North on Rt. 763 (Range-Line Street will take you South). Turn right on Vandiver and you will see the Ramada on the right. Check in is after 4 pm; check out is by 12 noon. There is a restaurant on the premises and room service is available. The hotel recently underwent a multi-million dollar renovation so should be quite nice. There is a swimming pool for your use. MEETING Registration will be on Tuesday from 7:30 am - 8:00 am in the ECRC lobby. Dress code for the meeting is casual. There will be a $20 hospitality fee due at registration to cover the cost of refreshments at the meeting, and a separate charge of $6 to cover the cost of a barbecue dinner (see below). HOSPITALITY On Tuesday, May 19, at 6 pm, we will have a Barbecue Dinner at nearby Bethel Park. Staff from the ECRC will join us for the picnic. For other social gatherings, we will use the facilities at the hotel. "Happy Hour" beverage specials and a complimentary buffet are provided evenings from 5 - 7 pm. FIELD TRIP For field trip participants, we will leave about 7:30 am on Wednesday, May 20, from the hotel lobby and return no later than 5:00 pm. In case the weather turns cool, bring a jacket and be prepared in case of rain. We will provide vans for transportation, but lunch will be paid for by participants (restaurant stop scheduled). Scientists from the Biological Resources Division, ECRC, the Missouri Department of Conservation, and the WRD Missouri District Office will lead the field trip.
