Wade (signed) Acting Assistant Chief Hydrologist for Information Subject: Establishment of Hydrologic Analysis Software Section Configuration Management Board The objective of this memorandum is to provide information regarding the establishment of the Hydrologic Analysis Software Section (HASS) Configuration Management Board (CMB), which will meet in Reston on June 1-3, 1998. The attachment to this memorandum contains the Board's charge and membership, as well as the agenda of the first meeting. Direct your comments on the HASS CMB charge, agenda items, and HASS issues to me, Jim Slack, Acting Chief, HASS, or any member of the HASS CMB. Attachment Hydrologic Analysis Software Section Configuration Management Board CHARGE HASS works with a Board that has representatives of District customers and cooperators, disciplines offices and thrust programs, and regions to shepherd the activities necessary to provide the Division with scientific analysis and modeling software. The Board will assure that activities are in place to assemble and manage requirements in both the short- and long-term. The HASS Board will advise the Office of Information (OI) on establishing near-term priorities by balancing costs for meeting sets of requirements with estimated tangible and intangible costs and benefits. The Board assists HASS in finding resources in Headquarters, Districts, and the Research program for developing partnerships to complete the priority work. The HASS Board will advise the OI on defining the expected long-term output of HASS, as well as a vision of the role of HASS in the future.
