Hill /signed/ Assistant Chief Hydrologist for Operations Subject: Buyout--Eligible Units and the Application Window The Chief Hydrologist's August 27, 1997, email, subject "Buyout Authority," identified targeted units in the Water Resources Division that either are or could be facing financial dificulties without buyout authority. The Senior Staff recently discussed the feasibility of including additional units in the buyout offer and decided not to expand the listing of eligible units. Once again, the only units eligible for the buyout are: all offices funded by Washington Office Technical Service Charge (WOTSC) and Data Collection and Analysis (DC&A) funds; the immediate offices of the four Regional Hydrologists, including regional staff located elsewhere; the Yucca Mountain Project Branch; the Office of External Research; publications-related units in the California and Florida Districts; the Wyoming District; all employees in publications- related series in the Central Region; employees assigned to the fiscal year 1991 NAWQA Study Units in the Central Region; the Central Region Drilling Project; and, the Office of the Chief of the National Water-Quality Laboratory, and the Methods Research and Development Program. Water Resources Division still has buyout slots available, therefore, employees in the targeted units are eligible to apply for the buyout. The window will remain open until all slots are taken, but no later than December 30, 1997. Applications should continue to be forwarded to the employee's Servicing Personnel Office.
