Hill /signed/ Assistant Chief Hydrologist for Operations Subject: 1998 Department of the Interior Safety and Occupational Health Seminar The Department of the Interior has scheduled a Safety and Occupational Health Seminar at the Bureau of Land Management Training Center in Phoenix, Arizona, May 18-22, 1998. I recommend that division managers support and encourage members of our safety community, namely the collateral duty safety officers, to attend this seminar. Their attendance will provide them with an opportunity to obtain vital safety training to include the OSHA Collateral Duty Safety Course. There will be USGS and WRD safety meetings on May 18 where our personnel can share ideas and concerns on the organization's safety program. Encouraging participation of your safety personnel will demonstrate management's recognition of their critical role in helping ensure a safe and healthful work environment.
