Wade (signed) Acting Assistant Chief Hydrologist for Information Subject: Change in Location of Reports Tracking System Server On Monday, October 5, 1998, the Reports Tracking System (RTS) will begin operating from a server at the Office of Information, Cartography and Publishing Program (CAPP), Madison, Wisconsin. The system was maintained at the Texas District but because Jimmy Bisese has assumed new responsibilities for NWIS and in an effort to consolidate publications activities, the CAPP will assume responsibility of maintaining the RTS. The new URL is http://rts.usgs.gov/ The RTS will be shut down by Friday, October 2, 1998, 5:00 p.m. (CDT), and will be available again by Monday, October 5, 1998, 8:00 a.m. (CDT). Dave Carlson, CAPP Computer Specialist, will be the new RTS system's administrator. He and the other team members can continue to be reached through RTS_Help. All future enhancements will be planned and implemented on a periodic basis instead of on demand. It is anticipated that the RTS will go through periodic upgrades but on a scheduled basis. Enhancement suggestions and bug reports should continue to be sent to RTS_Help. In the past several months, Jimmy has made some recent improvements to the RTS, specifically to the Report Approval and Retrieval Summary pages. We would like to make special note of the exceptional job Jimmy has done over the past several years in programming, enhancing, and maintaining the RTS. We certainly benefited from his being the creator and programmer of the RTS. We wish him well in his new position working for the NWIS-W team. We appreciate all of your efforts in updating the RTS and keeping it as accurate as possible. Please contact RTS_Help or Greg Allord at (608) 238-9333, ext. 200, or email gjallord, if you require any additional information.
