Meeks Regional Hydrologist, Southeastern Region Subject: Selection of Regional Ground-Water Specialist We are pleased to announce the selection of Eve L. Kuniansky as the Ground-Water Specialist for the Southeastern Region. Eve began her career with the USGS in 1983 as a Civil Engineer in the Southeastern Regional Office assisting with both the Floridan and Southeastern Coastal Plain Regional Aquifer Systems ground-water flow simulations. She transferred to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, later in 1983 where she gained project management and data collection experience in surface-water modeling, borehole geophysics, geologic mapping, and ground-water flow simulation. After transferring to Austin, Texas in 1986, she worked on the Edwards-Trinity Regional Aquifer System project. As part of that activity, she developed finite-element modeling software and interfaces of the finite-element model with GIS to simulate ground-water flow in karst systems. Since November 1994, she has served as the Texas District Ground-Water Specialist and the team leader of the Texas District Computer Unit. Eve holds a Bachelors degree in Physics from Franklin and Marshall College, and a Bachelors in Civil Engineering and a Masters in Hydrology from Georgia Institute of Technology. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in all aspects of ground-water hydrology including data collection, investigations, and reporting results. Eve will arrive in Atlanta in mid- to late August. Please join us in welcoming Eve to her new position.
