Pieritz Acting Personnel Officer Subject: Employee Express This memorandum announces revisions to the process by which your payroll and personnel records may be changed. Effective immediately, employees should use the automated Employee Express system to make selected changes to their personnel and payroll records; the changes which should be made via Employee Express are shown in the attached chart (which is also available at http://www.usgs.gov:8888/hro/pay/emplexpr.html). This change in procedure is part of the recent implementation of the Department of the Interior (DOI) Federal Personnel/Payroll System (FPPS) by the U.S. Geological Survey. As part of FPPS-related changes, DOI payroll operations no longer accept paper-based transactions for many common payroll and personnel related changes; the Employee Express system is the designated access method for these changes. The system allows employees to make these changes directly, avoiding delays associated with paper-based processing. To make changes in Employee Express, you may either call the toll-free number at 1-800-827-6254 or use the Internet address at www.employeeexpress.gov. You will need your Social Security Number and your Employee Express Personal Identification Number (PIN). Employees who need a new PIN in order to use Employee Express may obtain one by calling the PIN Help Desk at (912) 757-3030. You can also reach the Employee Express web site through the OPS Intranet pages at http://www.usgs.gov:8888/ops/hro/pay/index.html. New employees may not use Employee Express for initial entrance on duty paperwork; these forms will continue to be processed by the servicing personnel office.
