In the near future, we expect that the current hard copy mailings of the Department's Available Personal Property Report will be reduced or eliminated. In order to reduce our Bureau's costs with respect to the printing and mailing of the "Report" in hard copy format, and to provide more individuals with access to information on Bureau and Departmental available and excess property information, we encourage all USGS activities with Internet access to make regular and exclusive use of the on-line version. The online information is the same as that which is printed semimonthly. While the current Internet version lacks a built-in search feature, users with "Netscape" or "Explorer" browsers can use the Edit Find menu functions that are available in each. Either a whole word or part of a word may be entered. The Edit Find utility will highlight in turn each occurrence on the Web Page of exactly what is typed. Alternatively, anyone, including those using browsers other than Netscape or Explorer, can use the File "Save As" menu feature to save the Web Page to a disk file which can be read with almost any word processor. The word processor's Find/replace menu feature can then be used to find items by name. A future enhancement to the Web Page will sort the list ing by Federal Supply Class (F.S.C.)
