McGregor Associate Director for Programs Subject: Research Scientist Record Based on recommendations from the Benchmark Team on Rewards, the Bureau is moving toward a common process for the evaluation of employees classified as research scientists and evaluated under the Research Grade Evaluation Guide (RGEG). As part of that process, a new format is propose for the Research Scientist Record that will be used for evaluation under the RGEG by scientists in all Divisions. This memorandum announces that the form is available at the following address, which is an internal USGS Web site: http://www.usgs.gov:8888/documents/rsr.html Representatives from the four Divisions in several different work groups have revised this form and it has been reviewed by scientists from all Divisions. If you have comments on the form, please send them to the following E-mail address for Ray Gendron, by Tuesday, October 14, 1997. E-mail comments to: rgendron@usgs.gov Ray has agreed to collect the comments and present them to the Ad Hoc Committee that is working on achieving a common research-grade evaluation process for the Bureau. The Division members of this team are Steve Bohlen (Geologic Division), Mary Jo Baedecker (Water Resources Division), David Trauger (Biological Resources Division), Jack Fischer (National Mapping Division), and Ray Gendron (Human Resources). Please note the short time for response. It is necessary to finalize the form before the next panel process starts in 1998.
