Gossman, Jr. Acting Chief, Office of Program Support Subject: Office of Program Support News Subscription Service Available One of the major goals of the Office of Program Support (OPS) is to shorten the time and streamline the process of distributing information needed to carry out the support services activities of the bureau. Increasingly, OPS policy and procedural guidance, general information, and special notices are moving from hard copy to electronic format, often using the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Intranet Program Support Pages. To simplify your task in keeping up-to-date on OPS information, we are introducing a new Intranet feature: the OPS News Service. The OPS News Service, available to all employees via a simple e-mail subscription, is an easy way to be automatically informed of the latest news and updates to the USGS Program Support pages on the USGS Intranet. The News Service includes moderated topics for USGS Program Support "What's New" pages and OPS Desktop Computing Tips, as well as computing topics for user-to-user assistance. From within your browser, you can readily create an e-mail message to subscribe to the topics that interest you. As a subscriber, you will be notified automatically by e-mail when new web information is available, or when new postings are made to the topics to which you have subscribed. You may also look at any topic and its contents using your web browser, even if you haven't subscribed for e-mail notification. The current list of topics and their contents can be reviewed at http://edcwww.cr.usgs.gov/opsnews. Instructions on how to subscribe and how to post information to topics are available from this page.
