FTS2000 Access Code Change Date: Fri, 07 Nov 1997 23:04:57 -0500 To: "AO - All Administrative Officers" From: "Alice A. Sabatini, Division Administrative Officer" Subject: FTS2000 Access Code Change Attached is a message from OPS regarding FTS2000 Access Changes. Please ensure that appropriate action is taken to limit increased long distance phone charges after January 1, 1998. November 7, 1997 To: Division Administrative Officers From: Elaine Stout Chief, Branch of Telecommunications Services Subject Important Notification: Change in FTS2000 Carrier Access Code Due to the growth in the number of long distance providers, the FCC has changed the Carrier Access Codes of all providers. The FTS2000 access code is being changed from "10387" to "1010387". This is the code that some offices have to dial (either manually or automatically via their telephone system) to have their intra LATA calls, as well as their interLATA, long distance calls go out over the FTS2000 network versus the more expensive commercial network. Please provide this information to your local and field telephone system administrators and data communications personnel. They will need to insure that if they are presently using the "10387" code that they begin to use the new "1010387" code. The transition period from the old code to the new will end on January 1, 1998, so it is important that the necessary changes or procedures be in place by that time. Until January 1, 1998, both codes will work. Failure to make the appropriate changes could result in increased long distance charges for that site.
