The Holiday Inn Lakewood will be the motel used by the National Training 
Center for FY98.  The negotiated rate is $64 per day; therefore the 
allowable per diem charge for students and instructors will be $98 per 
day.  As most of you know, the $64 rate is available to all USGS 
travelers; and the Holiday Inn Lakewook offers this rate to employees 
during change of headquarters, and similar activities.

The Holiday Inn Lakewood is located at the intersection of Wadsworth and 
Hampden about 6 miles from the Denver Federal Center and is a full 
service motel.  The telephone number for the motel is (303) 980-9200.
If you have any problem with the room rate or services, 
you should ask for Colleen Binder, Director of Sales.

All USGS travelers need to clearly identify themselves as USGS personnel, and 
the $64 rate will include all local taxes and a select group of amenities.

Several instructors at and visitors to the NTC have tried other motels in 
the area near the Denver Federal Center offering similar room rates and 
reported that for the price, the Holiday Inn Lakewood is the choice.  The 
Holiday Inn Golden (the motel we used for years) has been remodeled and 
was offered the opportunity to bid for the USGS business but failed to 
make a substantial offer.  My thanks those of you who have given the NTC 
a night or two helping us "test" motels.
