These deletions were considered premature by the Administrative Management Council (AMC) who requested that John Cordyack meet with them to discuss this issue. John Cordyack informed this group that the deletions were made after they had been sent to the Headquarters Personnel Office for "sunset review." As a group, the AMC requested that these deleted chapters be reinstated until further review. The status of reinstatement is unknown at this time. In 2 telephone calls to the Personnel Office I have found that they are in agreement that the cancellations should not have been made. I asked when the Personnel Office would notify the field on this matter and the responses I received were (1) it fell under someone else's responsibility and (2), it was a recent tasking and notification to the field is planned but a date could not be given. John Cordyack met with the AMC over a month ago and since notification to the field has not yet been made I am requesting that this item again be placed on the AMC agenda. Three of the questions regarding SM chapters were related to SM chapter 370.735.5, Outside Work and Interests. To answer questions related to this matter I direct your attention to the Employee Conduct Handbook, dated 1993, page 16. The requirement for USGS Form 9-1510 is still a valid requirement. Also, Open File Report 93-175, Water Resources Division Handbook for Employees is available. Distribution to or the availability of both of these publications should be made to all WRD employees in your offices. Please call me if you have further questions. (703) 648-5028
