We are having to contact each office to obtain the correct information. Please find below the two email requests which went out earlier requesting your assistance. If you have questions regarding our request please let me know on (703) 648-5040. Thank you in advance for your assistance. Kelly TAXPAYER IDENTIFICATION NUMBERS ON THE BILL FOR COLLECTION FORMS: >According to a memo from Tim Calkins in OFM dated May 19,1997, >the Debt Collection Improvement Act of 1996 requires agencies >to obtain Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TIN) of all customers >doing business with the Government, including customers >entering into reimbursable agreements with the USGS. The >9-digit TIN number must be included on all Bills for Collection >(DI-1040) issued by the USGS, except those bills issued >by foreign governments. The TIN should be included with >the accounting classification information required at the >bottom of the form. > >The TIN number is also now required for all new customers. >I suggest that it be put in the remarks field in the >customer contacts frame in AIS, the same as any new >Agency Location Codes (ALC's) are to be done for any >OFA (1080's). The Accounts Receivable Section in OFM >is starting to mandate this procedure on the bills and >any new customer numbers so compliance with this new >procedure would be very appreciative. > REQUEST FOR NEW CUSTOMER NUMBERS: Due to the new FFS update that happened this past weekend, the ALC (Agency Location Code) is now required to obtain a new customer number from FFS. So for now, please use the remarks field to put it in the customer contacts frame in AIS. example: Remarks: ALC - 14080001
