With the volume of business this represents, we historically have been able to negotiate a very favorable rate. As of December 1, 1996, our designated hotel will change to the Holiday Inn Lakewood located at 7390 West Hampden Avenue, Lakewood, Colorado, 80227-5127. This facility features 190 guest rooms with either a king-size bed or two double beds. Amenities include: restaurant, lounge, room service, gift shop, in-room coffee makers and hair dryers, cable television, fitness center, outdoor pool, hot tub, dry sauna, voice messaging service, electronic key card system, valet service, guest laundry facilities, and courtesy shuttle within 5 miles of the hotel. Room rates are $67.00 (which includes tax); Reservation numbers: 303-980-9200 or 1-800-HOLIDAY (you must mention Group Code "2 USG" when making reservations). Airport shuttle information: Golden West Shuttle 303-342-9300 ($16.00 one way/$36.00 round trip). Directions from Denver International Airport: Take I-70 west to I-25 south. Go south on I-25 to 6th Avenue heading west. Exit at Wadsworth Blvd. heading south. Go south on Wadsworth Blvd. approximately 6 miles. Turn left onto Jefferson Street (2 blocks past Hampden Avenue). Turn left again onto Vance Street and hotel will be on your right. Up until December 1, 1996, we will continue to use the Holiday Inn Golden located at 14707 West Colfax Avenue, Golden, Colorado, 80401, 303-279-7611, at a rate of $40.00 per night. With an allowable room rate for the Denver area of $92.00 per day, we have been fortunate to receive a rate from the Holiday Inn Lakewood of $67.00 per day. This represents a significant jump over the former $40.00, but still is a savings of $27.00 off the allowable rate and represents a significant savings to the Division. We have investigated other hotel options in the area and, at $67.00, the Holiday Inn Lakewood is the best deal available considering a hotel that can accommodate our needs and the tradeoffs of price versus quality. This rate includes a full breakfast buffet in the morning, and beverage in the Equestrian Lounge each evening. The hotel requests that room reservations be made at least two weeks prior to arrival to assure room availability. Because of the lead time associated with announcing courses, 13 courses already have been announced with an equalization charge calculated using the old per diem rate of $74.00. The new per diem rate of $101.00 will cause an increase in the equalization charge for those 13 courses. The NTC is not capable of absorbing this additional cost, so we are going to have to raise the equalization charge accordingly. Therefore, the changes in the equalization charge listed in the table below are effective immediately.
