Subject:        WATER USE



I am pleased to announce that Chapter 11, Water Use, of the
National Handbook on Recommended Methods for Water Data
Acquisition has been released.  The Chapter 11 on Water Use is a
product of the Subcommittee on Water Use Information and
represents a significant step forward in the coordination of
water use information in the United States.

Because of changes within the Water Information Coordination
Program (WICP) and in an attempt to make the Chapter as widely
available as possible, the Chapter has been placed on the
internet. Chapter 11 can be found under the Subcommittee on Water
Use Information on the WICP homepage at 

     http://h2o.usgs.gov/public/wicp/  

This is the first chapter of the National Handbook that has been
placed on the internet.  It is our intention in the future that
as other chapters are revised, they will also be placed on the
WICP homepage.

I wish to congratulate all the individuals and agencies that put
their time and effort into developing this Chapter.
