Schneider Assistant Chief Hydrologist for Technical Support Subject: Cost Recovery of Fiscal Year 1996 Charges Associated with the Distributed Information System-II Proprietary Software RESPONSE REQUESTED BY MAY 31, 1996 The Distributed Information System Program Office (DIS) is in the process of cost recovery associated with proprietary software maintenance charges for Fiscal Year (FY) 1996. These charges are due on the Distributed Information System-II (DIS-II) computers located in headquarters and in the field, see attachment. Charges to be cost recovered include Data General (DG) Central Site Support (CSS) for DIS-II contract software, DIS-II contract software maintenance, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software maintenance. The DIS Program Office will issue a standard voucher to recover these costs. A copy will be sent by Geomail to the administrative contact for each office and site. Please provide the administrative contact's Geomail address and your office's account numbers to be charged, for offices shown on the attachment, to Angela Hall of the DIS Program Office by May 31, 1996. Angela may be contacted by Geomail (aehall) or by phone (703) 648-5625. The FY 1996 DG CSS charges are shown on the attachment under the heading "DG CSS" for each Water Resources Division (WRD) office that has a DG workstation or server. The DG CSS charges entitle selected WRD representatives to call DG for assistance on all DG software questions and concerns. The DG CSS charges are based on the assessment of $9 per workstation and $9 per server for the year. The software maintenance charges for each office are shown on the attachment under the heading "SOFTWARE." The software maintenance charges include the DG/UX operating system, FrameMaker, Ingres, Fortran 77, Disspla, Statit, Tactician, Prior GKS, and IMSL. The DIS-II contract price for software maintenance is $12 per DG workstation and $56 per DG server per month beginning on the system acceptance date. Also shown on the attachment are the Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. (ESRI) GIS software maintenance charges under the heading "GIS." The GIS software includes ARC/INFO, ARCView 2, ARCScan, ARCPress, ARCSDL, ARCExpress, and ARCStorm. An itemized listing of the ESRI charges for a site may be obtained by contacting Naomi Krishock of the DIS Program Office by Geomail (nckrish) or by phone (703) 648-6847.
