Meeks Acting Regional Hydrologist Subject: New Puerto Rico District Chief We are pleased to announce the selection of Rafael (Willie) W. Rodriguez as District Chief in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He began his USGS career with the Geologic Division in 1974 in Puerto Rico working on the Marine Geology Project. After receiving his MS degree in Marine Geology from the University of North Carolina in 1979 he continued graduate work in geology at the University of Miami in 1982 on scholarships received through the Minority Participation in Earth Sciences Program. He then returned to San Juan as project chief of the Puerto Rico Marine Geology Project where he served until transferring to WRD's Caribbean District earlier this year. Willie's experience with our Caribbean cooperators, his understanding of the island environment, and his experience with the Marine Geology Program will serve the program of the Caribbean District well. Please join us in welcoming Willie to his new position.
