We are pleased to announce the selection of Jess D. Weaver as
the District Chief of Alabama.  Jess is currently the Assistant
District Chief for Hydrologic Data in Nashville, Tennessee where he
has served since 1993.  He began his USGS career in 1980 in data
collection and analysis in the Knoxville, Tennessee Subdistrict. 
In 1985, he transferred to the Arkansas District where he worked in
the investigations program until he took a leave of absence to pursue
an M.S. degree in Environmental Engineering. He returned to the
Knoxville Subdistrict in 1988 where he later was selected as
Subdistrict Chief.

Jess's experience in data collection and program development activities
in district and subdistrict offices combined with his management skills
will be an asset to the Alabama District.
