EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES--Bar Coding Project In Reply Refer To: Mail Stop 405 MEMORANDUM March 5, 1996 To: Robert T. Kirkland, Supervisory Scientist, Ocala Willard D. Lanier, NWQL Alice Sabatini, Administrative Officer, Headquarters Frank Henry, Acting Chief, Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility From: William G. Shope Jr. Chief, Branch of Operational Support Subject: EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES--Bar Coding Project This memorandum presents the current status of contracting for bar code support for the U.S. Geological Survey. Because of the availability of a government-wide services contract for bar code support, the Survey has decided to cancel it's contract solicitation in favor of using a Department of the Army contract with INTERMEC. The Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility (HIF) has started work with INTERMEC to develop delivery orders under the Automated Identification Technologies Equipment Contract administered by the Army. INTERMEC has been providing bar coding services to the Survey for delivery orders initiated by the National Mapping Division. Tom Moss from INTERMEC has provided the attached information regarding contacts and hardware for the pilot sites. If you have any questions regarding the contracting procedures, please call Tammy Fanning, (703) 648-7363. Technical questions should be directed to InTERMEC. We will keep you informed of progress with the HIF pilot effort.
