Gossman, Jr. Acting Chief, Office of Program Support Subject: Announcement of the Office of Program Support Customer Service Home Page A new Office of Program Support (OPS) customer service home page is now available on the World Wide Web for use by all U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) employees nationwide! The Internet address is: http://www.usgs.gov:8888/ops With the introduction of the customer service home page, we are providing convenient access to OPS services, reference documents, contact information, and general program support services information. We encourage you to use the customer service pages and make suggestions for enhancements via electronic mail to OPS_webmaster@usgs.gov. As you navigate through the pages, you will see that we have identified twelve functional service areas in which OPS provides services to the USGS. We have organized program support information within these areas rather than along organizational lines. The first link from the OPS Program Support Services page to any of the functional service areas takes you to headquarters information. Pathways to regional information are also provided. "Reference Documents," policy documents, and other bureau information is maintained online at headquarters. Regional sites link to headquarters documents to eliminate redundancy and ensure that only "official" documents are being accessed. A full-text "Search" from each Program Support Services page searches other OPS pages to locate information. A "What's New" page refers to pertinent information about OPS services, activities, and news items of interest. A "Who's Who" links to staff lists and electronic versions of USGS and Department of the Interior directories. A "How To" links to instructions for configuring your browser and navigating our site. As we continually add information to the OPS customer service pages, we encourage you to access the information frequently and welcome your comments and suggestions.
