Subject:  EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES--Bar Coding Project

This memo updates the current status of the Water Resources Division's 
Pilot Bar Code Project.

The Request for Proposals (RFP) was mailed to approximately 80 vendors 
on October 12.  The closing date for the RFP is November 13 with the 
Technical Evaluation tentatively scheduled for November 13-17, in 
Reston.  We expect the evaluation process to run through December 1995, 
with contract award in early 1996.

We will continue to keep you informed as we proceed through the contract 
award process.
