Transfer Parners--A Welcoming Program Date: Fri, 15 Dec 95 17:04:34 MST December 15, 1995 To: All Employees From: Subject: Transfer Parners--A Welcoming Program On January 22, 1996, 154 employees from the Bureau of Mines will arrive for their first day of work as employees of the U.S. Geological Survey. To help ease this transition, a program called Transfer Partners is being developed to assist the new employees in getting oriented to their new surroundings. We need your help! All employees are invited to become Transfer Partners or to help with other orientation tasks (such as hanging signs, data collection, etc). Transfer Partners will be assigned one to two new employees and will be available to answer questions, guide them around the building, and help them learn about the Credit Union, IDRA activities, USGS clubs (Geostriders, Photography, Toastmasters, etc.), and the general culture of the Survey and working in Reston. We will also need people to make signs and post them around the building to help orient the newcomers. Those of you who had fun volunteering for the USGS Open House last spring will enjoy this opportunity to meet new people and lend them a helping hand. If you are interested, please fill out the attached form. This information will be used to help match you with Bureau of Mines employees of similar backgrounds. Please return the form to Elizabeth Koozmin at MS 903 or return via e-mail at EKOOZMIN@gccmail.er.usgs.gov. Please be sure to get permission from your supervisor for volunteering up to three hours a week for two weeks between January 22 and February 2.
