MEMORANDUM TO: All DOI Employees FROM: Theresa Trujeque Deputy Assistant Secretary for Human Resources SUBJECT: National Women's History Month Observance March has been designated National Women's History Month. After years of traditionally highlighting major contributions made by women, it is time for us to "See History in a New Way." This year's theme beholds the cornerstone to understanding a large part of our multicultural country. As we reflect on the history of our country, we realize that women have served with distinction and courage. They have educated and inspired our children and have contributed to our Nation's prosperity in all walks of life. Women also have been prominent in our great struggles for political and social reform. Today, women play a major role in our government as members of Congress, in the Cabinet, and on the Supreme Court. Every aspect of our national and personal life has been touched by the leadership, energy and insight of outstanding American women. Activities have been planned throughout the Department and all employees are strongly encouraged to participate in the celebration of National Women's History Month. Signed, March 6, 1996
