Hopper, Jr. /s/ Acting, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Human Resources Subject: Asian Pacific American Heritage Month May has been designated as Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month, and during this month we honor the sacrifice, self-discipline, courage and commitment of Asian Americans. The theme for this year's celebration is "Asian Pacific American - One Vision, One Mission, One Voice." Our American heritage is a mixture of many cultures, and our nation's strength lies in our inherent ability to absorb the best attributes of each group. As proud Americans, it is essential for us to reflect on the various cultures that have helped to shape of our national experience. The Department has a special link to Asian and Pacific Americans through our close association with the American territories, most of which are in the Pacific. I strongly encourage all employees to participate in ceremonies, celebrations, and other activities associated with Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.
