Chain Letters In Reply Refer To: Mail Stop 250 MEMORANDUM July 8, 1996 To: All National Center Employees From: Bureau Security Manager Subject: Chain Letters During the past week, our office received numerous complaints that chain letters were being sent to employees at the National Center. The letters were sent through the U.S. Geological Survey internal mail system using either a U.S. Government Messenger Envelope, Optional Form No. 65-B, or a blue Special Attention Mail envelope. Not only are these letters very disturbing to the persons receiving them, the Departmental Manual, Part 382, Sections 2.4A and 2.7A(2), prohibits the use of bureau/office mail services for personal use. If you receive a chain letter, you should immediately notify Kathi Evans on extension 4429 or by electronic mail (kkevans@usgs.gov).
