Opportunity to form a partnership with oil consortium To: "USGS Employees" From: Technology Transfer Office Subject: Opportunity to form a partnership with oil consortium X-Mailer: MEMORANDUM To: All Interested Employees From: Anton L. Inderbitzen Chief, Technology Transfer Subject: Opportunity to form a partnership with oil consortium The following is an announcement from the National Technology Transfer Center of an opportunity to form a partnership with a consortium of oil company's to develop a fluid imaging system to aid in recovery of oil deposits. The areas of expertise they are looking for extend far beyond geophysics. Included are mathematical modeling, imaging, remote sensing etc. Take a hard look at the referenced network page. There appear to be many possibilities for partnership with the USGS. If you are interested, please respond directly as there is no time for a single bureau-wide response. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To: "Anton L Inderbitzen, Reston, VA" From: "Al Sorkin" Subject: Oil Industry Outreach NTTC is assisting the Domestic Oil Industry in what has been called the OIL INDUSTRY OUTREACH collaborative project planning activity. This is an excellent opportunity to apply Federal Laboratory skills not normally familiar with oil and gas field production. New ways are sought to expose and identify the technical issues involved in finding remaining oil in sub-surface reservoirs. I suggest that you review the information in specially prepared Internet World Wide Web pages located at : http://www.nttc.edu/oil/p1.html I thought it would be helpful to list some relevant technical fields (see included list at end of this message) that could help you decide on your lab's potential involvement. Time is short for the Feb.1st application deadline....I encourage you to identify appropriate lab expertise and apply for participation in the Feb. 13-14th. meeting in Houston hosted by the Oil Companies by filing in the Web page application form. Though some labs may have travel and budget concerns for the Feb. meeting, it still would be appropriate to indicate interest and capabilities by using the application form. Please let me know how I can help you make this a big win for all concerned!
