Subject:  Acting Bureau Equal Opportunity Officer

This is to advise you that S. Kaye Cook, Equal Employment Opportunity Officer,
National Biological Service (NBS), will assume responsibility for serving as
Acting Bureau EEO Officer, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), effective July 29,
1996.  Her assignment to this position is made under the authority of a
Memorandum of Understanding between the NBS and the USGS.

Kaye brings extensive experience in the equal employment opportunity function
to this new assignment.  I would encourage you and your staff to consult with
her as the need arises.  Initially, Kaye will spend Tuesdays at the National
Center until the NBS/USGS merger is finalized.  She can be reached at
