GROUND WATER BRANCH TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM NO. 73.01
Subject: GROUND WATER - Distribution of book, "Geophysical Well
Logging," Volume I, by Hubert Guyod and
L. E. Shane.
We have acquired a limited supply of a recent book by Hubert Guyod
and L. E. Shane entitled "Geophysical Well Logging," (Volume I).
A single copy is being sent for use of District personnel. A
small reserve of copies of the volume is available should you
require additional copies.
The book was intended as the first volume of a series covering
all phases of geophysical logging; however, we are informed by
Dr. Guyod that the other volumes will not be prepared. Part I of
Volume I provides a lucid introduction to geophysical well logging
and part II describes the theory and practice of acoustical
logging.
Commercial well logging firms throughout the United States can
supply a variety of acoustic logging services. The Borehole-
Geophysics research group in Denver maintains acoustical velocity
logging equipment for its special research requirements and for
prototype development of operational equipment. In addition, the
research group has on order acoustical televiewer equipment for
its research needs and for eventual adaptation for operational
use.
