Subject:  PROGRAMS AND PLANS - Establishment of Quality-of-Water
                               Network for Aquifers - Supplemental
                               instructions

Reference is made to Ground Water Branch Memorandum 64.11, dated
October 14, 1963.  This memorandum should be regarded as an alert
to the Districts to stimulate thinking about plans for a
nationwide quality of ground-water network that will integrate the
local networks now in operation.

Please disregard the third and fourth paragraphs of Ground Water
Branch Memorandum 64.11, which requests estimates of station
numbers and costs.  More specific instructions and station
criteria will be the subject of a subsequent memorandum.
