Summary

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. This data set consists of digital continuous geologic data for the Carson River Basin, Nevada and California. It was compiled from individual county 1:250,000-scale geologic data for Pershing, Churchill, Lyon, Carson City, and Douglas Counties in Nevada and the Walker Lake 1 degree by 2 degree quadrangle geology. This data set contains detailed geologic formation and generalized geologic data.

Purpose

These data were created as part of a U.S. Geological Survey study, done in cooperation with the Carson Water Subconservancy District, to determine sources of phosphorus to the Carson River (Alvarez and Seiler, 2004). It was created to provide continuous geologic data for the Carson River Basin for use in spatial analysis.
