Summary

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. This is a Triangulated Irregular Network (TIN) of mean annual precipitation for the period 1931-80 for Ohio.

Purpose

This coverage is intended as a data layer representing the spatial distribution of mean annual precipitation in Ohio for the years 1931-80. Information contained in this coverage has been used to obtain values of mean annual precipitation at basin centroid locations (by means of the ARC "tinspot" command) for use in regression models described in: Koltun, G.F., and Whitehead, M.T., 2002, Techniques for Estimating Selected Streamflow Characteristics of Rural, Unregulated Streams in Ohio: U.S. Geological Survey Water-Resources Investigations Report 02-4068 Any use of trade, product, or firm names is for descriptive purposes only and does not imply endorsement by the U.S. Government. Although this Federal Geographic Data Committee-compliant metadata file is intended to document the data set in nonproprietary form, as well as in ArcInfo format, this metadata file may include some ArcInfo-specific terminology.
