Institute: Illinois
Year Established: 2014 Start Date: 2014-05-01 End Date: 2014-12-31
Total Federal Funds: $2,000 Total Non-Federal Funds: $4,318

Project Summary: The results of this work will provide insight into the manner in which these invasive mussels influence secondary production. The findings can be applied on a broader scale to understand the mechanism by which filter feeding by Dreissena is disrupting the microbial loop and secondary production in rivers and lakes. The results will be disseminated to the academic community through conference presentations and journal publications. The Lewis University director of media will disseminate our results outside the academic community to mass media, such as newspapers and magazines. Public talks and seminar presentations are additional venues to present findings.
