Project Summary: WERIs mission involves a large information transfer-dissemination component. Key elements include written forms such as newsletters, brochures and pamphlets, a website, technical reports, journal articles, newspaper columns, and book chapters. The audience for the results of USGS sponsored research is widely varied geographically and by education level. It is important that WERI make this information available in a very widely distributed form. The following describes several proposed projects aimed and increasing the availability of the results of USGS sponsored research. The proposed project will fund the editing and printing of six 1 page Water News Alerts that will be distributed to about 150 people, offices and educational institutions throughout the Western Pacific region. Recent and old copies of this Water News Alert will also be published on WERIs Web page. This project will also fund the design, layout and printing of five technical completion reports resulting from USGS funded research projects. Seventy five (75) hard copies of each report will be printed and the reports will be prepared and published on WERIs Web page. It is very important that WERIs Web page be updated and optimized on a regular basis. To provide this a professional Web maintenance firm will be contracted to provide maintenance to the WERI Web page on a regular basis.Because of Guams remote location it is difficult and quite costly for researchers to present their findings at technical conferences and symposiums. This project will fund a portion of Stateside travel expenses for any PI or his graduate student presenting a refereed professional paper summarizing all or a portion of current 104-B research.
