Abstract
The proposed effort will result in the following outcomes:
(1) A statewide water resources conference (one in a biennial series held
since 1989) for approximately 600 attendees including water resources professionals
from federal/state/local agencies, consulting firms, water utilities, industry,
universities, and citizen organizations, as well as students. The conference
will include sessions for each major river basin, and a workshop on comprehensive
river basin planning.
(2) Review of the state non-point source management program and 319 grant
program, with recommendations to the state EPD director for improving the
program and for coordinating this program with the state’s existing
river basin plans and the pending State Comprehensive Water Plan.
(3) Demonstration/teaching of a method of open (stakeholder-based) multi-criteria
policy analysis, for three environmental problems selected by the state EPD
director. One of the example problems will be water management considering
irrigation water use in the Flint River basin area.
(4) A survey and summary of information and training needs of water resources
professionals in Georgia.
