Abstract
During this application period,104 funds will be used to provide full editorial support for the Water Center's newsletter (Virginia Water Central). Five to six issues of “Virginia Water Central” are produced each year. Hard copies and electronic copies are distributed and also posted on the Water Center's website.
Other activities include: 1. Partial funding of personnel cost for program development of “Service Training for Environmental Progress” (STEP). STEP is a community outreach and servicelearning program of the Water Center. Center staff works closely with community leaders to identify water-related problems, serve as a link between community and university faculty and students who will take on the projects. Center staff seeks external funding to support the ongoing program. 2. Personnel cost to maintain the Water Center's library, videos and slide shows. University faculty, students, local and state agency personnel and citizens are clients of the Water Center's library. Center staff responds to numerous requests each month.
