Abstract

Operating expenses are requested for basic program administration and information transfer, including funds for further development of the Water Center's web site. The web site is particularly important for information transfer, communication with water science faculty, graduate and undergraduate student recruitment and training, and linkages to other programs and to the Center's newsletter. Travel funds for the Director and Associate Director are also requested for participation in annual meetings of Center directors and to generate additional water research funding. These are critical needs to effectively oversee and coordinate research programs supported by USGS funds administered through the UNL Water Center and to foster additional research in the water sciences. The budget reflects a significant reduction in operating funds requested in prior years.
