USGS Water Science Centers are located in each state

Water-use data available from USGS

The U.S. Geological Survey maintains national digital data bases of water-use information. The data are collected and compiled every five years for each State, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Other files, such as lists of county names, graphics, and charts, are also available for some years.

Data compilation for the report Estimated Use of Water in the United States in 2010 is off to a delayed start in Fall 2011. Report completion and data availability is not expected until 2014.
