08140700 Pecan Bayou near Cross Cut, TX
LOCATION - Lat 31°58'21", long 99°07'48" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Brown County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 12090107, the dam for Lake Brownwood is located about 20.5 miles downstream from the gage.
DRAINAGE AREA - 532 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD -

Apr. 1968 to Dec. 1978, daily mean discharge and continuous stage.

Sept. 22, 2015 to current year, continuous stage and discharge above a base rating of 200 ft³/s.

GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1,452.24 ft. above NAVD88. From April 1968 to December 1978 datum of the gage was 1,453.35 feet above NGVD29. Satellite telemeter at station.
COOPERATION -  Groundwater and Stream Flow Information Program (GWSIP)
REMARKS - Several small diversions above station. Flow is affected at times by discharge from flood-detention pools of 32 floodwater-retarding structures with combined detention capacity of 39,200 acre-ft. These structures control runoff from 200 mi² in the Turkey Creek and upper Pecan Bayou drainage basins. Historically, these retentions are assumed to affect flows by 10 percent or more. 
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood in 1908 reached a stage of 26.5 ft. and was exceeded by a flood in 1900, from information by local resident. A floodmark surveyed from the flood of Jan. 21, 1968 reached a peak of 24.1 ft. Flood of 1957 was 25.5 ft. on right bank about 0.5 mi. downstream according to local resident, Mr. Eubank.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 22,700 ft³/s, May 30, 2016, gage-height, 27.22 ft. No flow many days.
