Research Interests
I have broad research interests in ecology and ecosystems, primarily focusing on microbes in aquatic and soil systems. Lines of research interest include spatial and temporal distributions of organisms in natural environments; patterns in community composition, diversity, and function with respect to the physical context (boundaries) of ecosystems such as lakes and estuaries; effects of environmental heterogeneity (physical and chemical) on biological and ecosystem structure and function; mechanisms for biological persistence, change, and community/ecosystem function; practical and theoretical applications of multivariate statistics and biotechnology to address ecological questions.
