Judson W. Harvey, Ph.D.

Judson W. Harvey has been a hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey's National Research Program in Reston, VA since 1995. His research is focused on hydrologic transport and biogeochemical reactions near the interface between groundwater and surface water. Dr. Harvey has investigated stream and wetland processes throughout the country, including steep forested watersheds in Colorado and California, alluvial floodplain rivers in Arizona and Louisiana, and wetlands of the Virginia coastal plain and the Everglades peatlands in south Florida. He received his training in hydrology at the Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Virginia followed by an NRC Postdoctoral Fellowship with the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park, CA. Dr. Harvey has served on the editorial boards for Water Resources Research and Wetlands and on the Water Quality Committee of the American Geophysical Union. He was recently a member of the National Research Council's Committee on Riparian Zones and the American Society of Limnology and Oceanography's panel on future directions in Limnology.
