Fosness, R.L., 2014, Myrtle Bend Substrate Enhancement Pilot Project Extent, Kootenai River near Bonners Ferry, ID, 2014: U.S. Geological Survey data release, https://doi.org/10.5066/P9BZ0QGH.

Summary

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. The substrate enhancement pilot project (SEPP) extent GIS layer represents an area where an artificial substrate will be placed. The artificial substrate, consisting of a mixed size class of gravel, is aimed at providing a more suitable substrate for sturgeon eggs and early-life rearing habitat. The location of the SEPP extent was created by analyzing the egg-mat network, bathymetric features, surficial sediment facies, and streamflow characteristics. [...]

Purpose

These data are intended to be combined with bathymetric, surficial sediment facies, egg-mat network, and streamflow characteristics to describe the physical habitat occupied by Kootenai River white sturgeon during spawning and early-life phases. These data can be used with geographic information systems (GIS) or other software to display the Kootenai River White Sturgeon Egg-Mat Network near Shorty's Island and Myrtle Bend operated by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.
