USGS IN YOUR STATE

USGS Water Science Centers are located in each state.

There is a USGS Water Science Center office in each State. Programs at the Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility

Programs at the HIF that support the hydrologic data collection activities of the USGS include engineering projects, instrument and equipment evaluations and training classes.

Projects

Employees of the HIF Engineering Support Unit conduct projects to develop new or modify existing hydrologic instruments and equipment. They also design and configure custom systems from existing equipment and instruments.

Instrument Evaluation

HIF employees conduct equipment and instrument evaluations in order to identify products that meet the requirements of the USGS to collect hydrologic data. Those requirements include; cost effectiveness, accuracy, compatibility with existing equipment and infrastructure, and an ability to perform under a wide range of environmental conditions.

Training

The HIF currently offers two training courses. Courses provide lectures and "hands-on" experience. Both courses regularly receive glowing, enthusiastic evaluations from the students who complete them.
