PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (CA) Moderate flooding through out California

Date: Wed, 15 Mar 2023 14:02:52 EDT

Summary: Overnight AR continues to impact California

The moderate Atmospheric River which began to swing through California yesterday continued to move south overnight with the most significant impacts through out the southern part of the state.

The flood crest continues to move down the Sacramento River with flows near 100K CFS noted at several gages. This flood crest is attenuating as it moves south through the delta. Flows at the lower Klamath Basin are currently peaking with 30K at Orleans and 115K at the mouth downstream gage of Klamath.

Crews from all eight of the CAWSC Field Offices are out today following up with recessionary measurements. Flood warnings are still in effect until 5 PM today for the Pajaro River near Watsonville where a levee broke on Monday.

The Pacific conveyor belt is forecast to continue throwing moisture into California for much of the next 7 days, but with less intensity than the current events.
