PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (TX)

Date: Fri, 07 Jun 2024 11:54:47 EDT

Summary: Ongoing measurement of East Texas flooding.

An upper-level ridge is expected to maintain drier conditions in East Texas, while thunderstorms are forecasted for the western part of Texas this weekend. Should the ridge shift eastward, it could affect North Texas, particularly in regions that have experienced considerable rainfall in last couple of months.

For the past couple of months East Texas has been dealing with flooding. Throughout the system a lot of water that has been stored is now starting to be released, not a lot of storage remains. Our crews are responding to these releases and making measurements. The following sites are either being measured today or will be measured sometime next week.

08019000 Lake Fk Ck nr Quitman, TX
08020000 Sabine Rv nr Gladewater, TX
08025360 Sabine Rv at Toledo Bd Spillway nr Burkeville, TX
08026000 Sabine Rv nr Burkeville, TX
08032000 Neches Rv nr Neches, TX
08032500 Neches Rv nr Alto, TX
08036500 Angelina Rv nr Alto, TX
08062700 Trinity Rv at Trinidad, TX
08065000 Trinity Rv nr Oakwood, TX
08065350 Trinity Rv nr Crockett, TX

I had a conversation with North Texas Data Chief this morning, and he mentioned that if the water level of the Trinity River near Rosser, TX keeps falling, the lakes around the DFW area will start to release water. This is part of an ongoing process, and it will persist as they begin to transfer water out of the system.
