PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (CA) Atmospheric River continues to bring precipitation to CA

Summary: Field crews measuring high flows at select streamgages.

The latest atmospheric river continues to affect the state. Yesterday and today, the storm has been moving south. Many areas of the state remain under flood warnings and watches, and debris and mudslides were reported near Malibu. Several rescues were reported in the Sacramento area and one in San Luis Obispo. The Santa Barbara airport was closed yesterday.

Over the last 24 hours, an additional 1.5 to 2 inches of rain fell north of Santa Rosa, 3.5 to 4 inches north and a few spots just south of Redding, 2.5 to 3.5 inches in several areas in Santa Barbara and parts of Los Angeles.

12 teams of 20 field staff are inspecting streamgages and/or measuring streamflow at several Sacramento River sites north of Sacramento, the Cache Creek Basin, the Cuyama Basin, Redwood Creek, and streams near Irvine and Santa Barbara. No record extremes are expected at any streamgage in the CAWSC network.
