PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (FL) Continued Flooding in Central Florida

Summary: Response to Hurricane Ian flooding for CFWSC Lutz office.

Historic flooding continues in central Florida following Hurricane Ian. Several gages in and around the Peace River basin continue to experience period of record flooding with levels still continuing to rise in some locations.

There are currently 12 gages damaged or destroyed for this area following the hurricane.

Yesterday, 18 field personnel were able to make measurements at 18 stations. 11 of those measurements were POR maximums with 4 of those more than doubling the previous high measurement. 02296750 Peace River at SR 70 at Arcadia, FL had the highest measurement in over 91 years of record.

Today, 18 field personnel are attempting to make measurements at 12 stations and repair 3 gages.
