PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (VA) Hurricane Ian

Summary: Monitoring deployment in Response to Hurricane Ian in Virginia.

The VA-WV WSC has been issued a Mission Assignment from FEMA for the deployment of rapid deployment gages (RDGs) and pressure transducers (PTs) to provide local communities and stakeholders data in response to the remnants of Hurricane Ian in Virginia. The storm sensors will be deployed to capture peak water levels for emergency management, response, and recovery needs.

Three zones have been identified and deployment of RDGs and PTs are scheduled to beginning Friday Sept. 30.

Zone 1 - Buchannan County, VA; Knox Creek at Blackey, VA and Dismal Creek at Whitewood, VA.
Zone 2 - Central Virginia; Mason Creek at Route 419 in Roanoke County, Rich Creek at Route 219 near VA-WV border, and Peak Creek at Randolph Ave. in Pulaski County.
Zone 3 - Hampton Roads Area in VA; Hell Point Creek at Sandbridge, VA, The Hague at Norfolk, VA, Wharf Creek near Hudgins, VA, and Virginia Inside Passage at Kiptopeke,VA.
