OFFICE OF SURFACE WATER TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM NO. 98.02

Subject: Distribution of ASCE Report, "Predicting Travel Time
and Dispersion in Rivers and Streams," by Harvey E. Jobson

The WRD is often asked to predict travel time and attenuation of peak
concentrations that may result from a contaminant spill. The attached
report summarizes the analysis of a large amount of WRD time-of-travel
data and develops a simplified prediction procedure to address these
types of problems. It also illustrates how time-of-travel data can be
interpreted for flows other than those occurring during the actual
study.

The purpose of this memorandum is to distribute the subject report.
